Huaneng Power International (HPI) today announced it has received the regulatory green light for its Huaneng Tongxiang gas-fired cogeneration project. Construction of the plant, in which it owns a 95% interest, was approved by Zhejiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission.

HPI said it will contribute investment worth RMB 1.488 billion (US$ xxx billion), or 20% of the project capital, together with and New Town Development and Construction Co., based in the Linhang economic area of Tongxiang, Zhejiang. The remainder will be funded from bank loans.

The proposed co-generation plant consists of two sets of 200MW class combined cycle gas turbine cogeneration units, according to the operator. It is located in Tongxiang, a county-level city in China's southeast coastal province of Zhejiang.
