Southwest China's Chongqing muni cipality has worked with China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC), parent company of China's top-listed oil and gas producer PetroChina (601857 .SH; 0857.HK; PTR.NYSE), in carrying out a liquefied natural gas (LNG) network project to enhance its natural gas supply capacity, according to a source with the municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology.
With a total investment of 8 billion yuan, natural gas pipeli nes that cover the 38 districts and counties in Chongqing will be buil t by CNPC by 2015 in a bid to realize wider-coverage networking betwee n gas sources and end users.
Meanwhile, existing pipeline networks will also be reinforced in a bid to achieve overall improvement in natural gas peak shaving a nd supply capacity.
The project also includes 55 LNG charging stations, 7 port/wh arf all-in-one comprehensive utilization stations, 5 logistics park al l-in-one comprehensive utilization stations, which are to be built by CNPC by 2020, with a combined tank storage capacity of 52,000 cubic me ters, 50,000 LNG vehicles and 100 LNG vessels.
