Since signing an agreement to build a cross-border pipeline with China in March of 2009, Myanmar has undertaken steps toward political reform - developments that may presage heightened engagement with international energy majors.

The country's longstanding relations with China have remained on-track throughout, and the much anticipated China-Myanmar gas pipeline is set to begin operations by June 2013, the Kuming Evening Post of China's Yunnan Province reported on May 12.
