PetroChina has proposal a $185 million deal to acquire coal-seam gas (CSG) junior mining company WestSide Corproation Ltd.
This is the first time a Chinese firm has proposed to purchase an Australian CSG miner.
The two companies are expected to announce the results of their negotiations before Christmas, or early January.
